I Could Only Wait So Long



I could only wait so long
Come on, come on, come on
Jesus, we’re going to be late
Again
I’ve been ready for a half an hour
I know she has my number
Come on
I really don’t want to leave without you

You know what, I’m leaving
I grabbed my wallet, keys, phone and headed to the car

Her car was just pulling into the drive
She opened the door popped out
With a big smile on her face
And raced at me for a kiss

I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long
She said it so sweetly, my heart thumped

No not at all
I was just going out to start the car
Oh great she said
I’m just going to run in the house to grab a drink
She said it whisking past me and up the drive

OH GOD. NO!

I could hear myself screaming
I thought it was in my head
But it was out loud
Very loud
She stopped and turned

Really she said

Ok.
I’m coming

Easy You make it look so easy. She said It’s not easy. It may be simple but it is not easy. Today has been a struggle. I go back and forth.
